The Thinkproject year in review

2020 was certainly not the year any of us were expecting but we are incredibly proud of our team, our business partners and the AECO industry for overcoming the adversity and still managing to create some fantastic milestones for the year.

Here are a few of the accomplishments we are proud of this year.

We turned 20

Thinkproject hit a big milestone this year, celebrating 20 years bringing construction intelligence to AECO projects across the globe. We had big ambitions when Thinkproject was founded in 2000 and the past 20 years have exceeded any of our expectations. From our start in Munich, we now have offices in several countries throughout Europe, and with our acquisition of RAMM we now have offices in Australia and New Zealand too.

We also welcomed partner resellers Man and Machine, and IB&T who ensure our solutions can reach an even wider audience.

Another major bit of news was EQT becoming majority stakeholder, they bring a wealth of knowledge and new ideas that will make 2021 an exciting year for us.

Projects to shout about

We are always proud to deliver solutions for all projects and 2020 was no different. This year we have been involved in some truly innovative projects that will improve infrastructure, public spaces and more. The mega-project Fehmarnbelt Tunnel is using our BIM software to bridge the transport gap between Denmark and Germany; we continued our work on the Three Runway System at Hong Kong Airport and our Contract Management software is assisting on another major Hong Kong project with DSD.

Sustainable projects such as Project Phoenix in Spain, and Saint John Safe Clean Drinking Water Project are also important works that are implementing construction intelligence to ensure project success.

This year we were also able to offer our solutions on the NHS Nightingale Hospital Jersey, as well as for the Neonatal Unit at Hospital Sant Joan de Déu, two projects that are integral to our communities.

Pay it forward

A major focus for us this year and going forward is our commitment to social responsibility, we want to ensure we are contributing to causes that will benefit communities (both local and not). We are firmly committed to Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and therefore have begun a series of actions aimed at achieving them as far as possible. This year we started the Hour of Code initiative, with sessions for local school children to learn coding skills in both Munich and Gloucester, and even a virtual session was held for the children of our French team! We hope in 2021 we can continue Hour of Code at our offices, adding more locations as the situation allows.

Never has it been more apparent that supporting great causes is an important part of our values, and this year saw us involved with some important charities such as Global Fund for Women, Marie Curie, and the Lighthouse Club, to name a few. With our successes this year we are dedicated to paying this forward.

Diversity in our own company has been another topic we have been working on in 2020. We want to ensure we are providing a safe, open and accepting place for our staff and have been making our first moves into improving our culture.

Without our staff feeling like they are working in a positive environment then we are unable to upload our values. In addition, in line with Goal 5 of the SDG, which seeks to achieve gender equality and empower all women, we highlight that this year saw our first woman join our CXO team and the start-up of the Thinkproject Women’s Network.

Next year we will focus on workshops and programs to educate and give a voice to everyone in the business and continue improving Thinkproject as a great place to work.

Growth Champions

We wanted to wrap this up with some good news for us, Thinkproject was announced as one of Germany’s Growth Champions 2021. This is a fantastic achievement and testament to the hard work our colleagues have put in in this difficult year.

What’s in store for Thinkproject in 2021? We have a breadth of exciting developments coming next year which we are itching to share with you! We hope you join us on the next leg of our journey.
