Project
The 1bn Euro M6/M60 PPP motorway project is part of an EU corridor linking Budapest, Sarajevo and Ploce. Strabag holds the concession for the motorway for 30 years, and is responsible for its design, construction, financing, operation and maintenance. As the general contractor, the company is responsible for delivering the construction works on time and on budget. To facilitate this, Strabag decided to use online project collaboration platform thinkproject to support its project control system, and management administration tasks.
Challenges
The large-scale infrastructure project includes many different teams who need to work in unison. When working on motorway projects, it is crucial that minimal disruption to commuters is at the forefront of planning and execution.
Solutions
thinkproject manages around 12,000 construction drawings, as well as method statements, qualification documents, nonconformities and reporting. By using an online platform, information and related processes can be tracked transparently by all those involved – ensuring everyone has access to and is using the most up-to-date information.
Design and approval workflows implemented in the platform system track the contractually defined processing times of each party, displaying missed deadlines at the touch of a button.
Outcomes
Including the client, engineers, designers, subcontractors and suppliers, project teams are now all integrated onto the platform. To simplify the communication between the project partners all processes are mapped in three languages: Hungarian, German and English, to which each project member can select their preferred language.
Client
Strabag, plus subsidiaries, is the largest construction company in Austria, and one of the largest in Europe. The company is active in Europe as well as Canada, China, India and South America.
