Power Plant Construction Management Software for E.ON

Land / Regio Het Nertherlands
Branche Energie & Water

The Netherlands needs more electricity. Consumption has risen between one and two percent annually over the past few years – and this trend is expected to continue in the decades ahead. The rate of new capacity construction since 2000 has been limited, so imported power now makes up almost a quarter of national requirements. E.ON is expanding Dutch production capacity with the new 1,100 MW coal fired Maasvlakte power plant, which will provide some seven percent of the country’s electricity requirements. The new power station’s energy return will be 46%. As a result, CO2 emissions per kilowatt-hour will be reduced by around 20%.

thinkproject supports the Maasvlakte Power Plant construction management, where E.ON manages major challenges with communication between all project members, as well as comprehensive management of drawings and documents, all of which is tailored to E.ON’s internal processes.

Additional processes mapped via the platform include daily site reporting; construction and assembly monitoring; and action tracking by lists of open points for commissioning and contract compliance.

thinkproject is the chosen online collaboration platform for all new E.ON New Build & Technology power plant construction projects. The Maasvlakte Plant currently has the highest number of users and data volume, and the broadest range of functionalities of all E.ON projects managed via the platform.

Energy provider E.ON operates in over 30 countries, serving over 33-million customers. Based in Essen, since 2000 the company has gone from strength to strength with a series of mergers and acquisitions. E.ON operates in several areas including nuclear and renewable energy.
